Development of Participatory Waste Management Model in the Cultural Tourism of Wat Mahathat Community Nakhon Phanom Province

Abstract
This research studied the development of participatory cultural tourism waste management model of Wat Mahathat community, Nakhon Phanom province. The objective of this work were to develop the waste management model and reduce waste from tourism community. This research was a participatory research. The target groups were Wat Mahathat Community, Wat Mahathat and Nakhon Phanom University. It was demonstrated that community involvement has resulted in the success as follows: (1) local waste management committee was formed (2) the processes of waste management for 4 waste categories were launched (3) community learning center was established (4) The amount of general waste in the community and in Wat Mahathat decreased by 7.9 percent.
