Abstract

The objectives of this study were to investigate the significance of Mueang Bang Khlang as an important historical city of Sukhothai and to explore the guidelines for marketing promotion and development of tourism in Mueang Bang Khlang. The results of this study indicated that Mueang Bang Khlang was mentioned in Sukhothai inscriptions. However, few people have known this city. When marketing, mixed factors were considered, Mueang Bang Khlang is a city of ancient sites and unique local desserts. Local products are not expensive and distributed or publicized via public relations through Mueang Bang Khlang Municipality and social media. However, Mueang Bang Khlang tourism has not gained much popularity because visitors pay more attention to amulets than tourist attractions and historical sites. Tourism promotion in Mueang Bang Khlang should begin with the local people realizing the values of their own city, leading to the development of a modern product presentation model to create value for the product. In addition, the best quality online communication channels should be used. Besides, public relations for Mueang Bang Khlang should be conducted to increase awareness of cultural tourists as well as other groups of tourists in order to sustainably strengthen Mueang Bang Khlang tourism.
