Communication for Development of Potential for Self-reliance and Promotion of Occupations for the Community: A Case study of Ban Mae Thalu, Sop Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province

Abstract
This research article is survey research, which focuses on communication for the development of the potential for self-reliance and promotion of occupations for Ban Mae Thalu community. The purpose of this research was to develop the potential for self-reliance in the community of Ban Mae Thalu and to generate income and promote careers for Ban Mae Thalu. The sampling of this research consisted of professional group leaders, villagers, village headmen, and Sop Moei community development officer. The research methods consisted of in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and focus group discussion, through group activities workshops. The results indicated that the villagers have the process of communication of creating community organizations to develop the potential for self-reliance. The village headman and the professional group leaders are important groups in driving the career promotion program for the community, together with the researcher, through the communication process by distributing information to community members. In addition, the community leaders also allow members the opportunity to participate through comments, which could solve problems and carry out activities together. The community is able to divide local products into 5 categories: shirts, bags, Karen chili powder, crispy banana, and organic fertilizer. Therefore, these products could be sold to tourists to generate sustainable income for the community.
