Public Health Officer’s Experiences Regarding Community Capacity Building for Dengue Problem Solution: Focus Group Discussion’s Result

Abstract
Community capacity building is a strategy for dengue solution in Thailand. The objective of this study was to explore health provider’s experience for building community capacity in dengue problem solution. The study was phenomenology approach design. Collecting data was un-participation observations, and focus group interview. The participants were selected based on purposive sampling technique from health providers of 38 district health promotion hospitals, Kanchanadit district, Phrasaeng district and Wiang Sa district in Surat Thani province. Question guidelines were related community capacity building’s experiences for dengue prevention. Data analysis used thematic analysis technique, trustworthiness with literature review, and present with participant’s word. The thirty eight participants were fourteen men, and twenty four women whose experiences could be expressed as follows : 1) “They were aware of the problem and knew the cause of dengue fever in the community” 2) “Disease prevention and control was a measure to solve the dengue fever problem” 3)“Personnel must have various capabilities to solve the dengue problem”, 4) “the mayor was in charge of creating capacities, and 5) “Dengue fever problem could be solved with cooperation form network partners”
