Worldviews Appearing in the Southern Country Songs : A Case Study of Biw Kanlayanee (Kanlayanee Jiamsakul’s song)

Abstract

This research article aimed to study worldviews appearing in the southern country songs of Biw Kanlayanee (Kanlayanee Jiamsakul), totaling 66 songs, which are solo ones composed from 2006 to 2016. The findings revealed 4 aspects of the worldviews of southern country songs, consisting of the worldview of love, the worldview of gender, the worldview of education, and the worldview of lifestyle. In this regard, the worldview of love was dominantly found, divided into 2 forms: fulfilled love and disappointed love. The worldview of gender, females are vigorous and patient to their conducts of lives, while males play roles regarding leadership and adherence of one love. In terms of the worldview of education was found. The southern people pay attention to education due to leading to better careers. In addition, the worldview of lifestyle was found in several aspects, such as the aspect of local traditional worldview. Southern people adhere to traditions since their ancestor period. Southern people are sincere and love their companions. The appearing worldviews among the southern songs explicitly reflected the worldviews of southern people towards various matters.
