The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Organizational Effectiveness in Higher Education Administration: A Systematic Literature Review
Main Article Content
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a strategic driver of organizational effectiveness in higher education institutions in the era of digital disruption. However, prior research has predominantly focused on teaching and learning contexts, with limited synthesis at the organizational level. This study aimed to synthesize the role of AI in organizational effectiveness in higher education administration, classify key dimensions of AI application, and develop an integrated conceptual framework. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. A total of 22 studies were selected from ERIC, ScienceDirect, and ThaiJO databases and analyzed using content analysis for conceptual synthesis. The results indicated that AI enhanced organizational processes, particularly data-driven decision-making, predictive analytics, and strategic management. However, AI did not directly influence organizational effectiveness; its effects were mediated by organizational mechanisms, including digital leadership, organizational readiness, organizational capability, and AI governance, within the context of digital transformation. The study proposed a multi-layered causal framework integrating AI, organizational mechanisms, and organizational effectiveness based on the AGIL model. This framework contributes to the literature by addressing the gap in organizational-level synthesis and provides a foundation for future empirical research.
