Abstract

Educational theory is not successfully apply in the real context because there are so many uncontrollable problems happened in the real classroom. It is interesting that how teacher use new content of teaching from training by themselves. Consequently, the research in order to understand how teachers apply new knowledge to their classroom and how students learn are needed and it will be helpful teacher training in the future. This research want to follow up teachers who had trained about teaching and learning on vector component in order to investigate the factors that affect to teacher’s teaching and student’s learning. Four case studies from ten teachers who had trained were selected. All of their classroom were different contexts; teacher “B” had 14 students in a rural area, “C” had 29 students in a rural district area, “D” had 38 students in a rural district area, and teacher “E” had 3 students in a rural area. Data collected tools consisted of lesson plan evaluation, teaching and learning evaluation, investigated evaluation, interview and vector components test.


The research results showed that the impact factor of teaching vector component are teachers ‘understanding in both of concept and teaching strategies and mindset of teaching, teachers have to change their mind from teacher-center to student-center. The impact factor of learning in vector component are student lacked of skills in Math about geometry and trigonometry. Students could not draw angle of vector from x-axis or y-axis, students could not use the protractor, and students did not have basic of the trigonometric relationships. Therefore, before teaching teacher should be aware about student’s prior knowledge in geometry and trigonometry.
