Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to develop and validate the sequential latent growth curve model of attitude toward teaching profession, and 2) to study growth of attitude toward teaching profession of undergraduate education program students, Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University. The sample consisted of 652 undergraduate students from 4 class cohort (232, 139, 148, and 133) of education program in Early-childhood, Mathematics, and English, that enrolled on 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 academic year. Each cohort obtained for 4 point in time with 5 month interval. The research instrument was attitude toward teaching profession inventory which developed by researcher. Data were analyzed in order to estimate growth parameter using the sequential latent growth curve.

The research results were as follows:

1)The growth of attitude toward teaching profession using the sequential latent growth curve model was fitted with empirical data and indicated that nonlinearity in the growth curve.

2) The mean intercept and slope were 4.0369 and 0.1123, respectively, indicated that on average, student had initial attitude toward teaching profession status of 4.0369 and steady increase in growth rate of 0.1123 over time. The mean of attitude toward teaching profession from the first through the tenth semester was 4.0369, 4.1492, 4.1695, 4.1727, 4.1110, 4.0930, 4.0865, 4.1253, 4.2026 and 4.2261
