Abstract

This scholarly article analyzes the application of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research in integrated Buddhist psychology research. Utilized a case study focused on the development and efficacy evaluation of an integrated Buddhist psychology program designed to enhance morale in preparing for the final breath of the elderly. Key findings from this integrated analysis confirm that qualitative research is essential for establishing the philosophical legitimacy and conceptual validity of the program, employing Abhidhamma principles and practices such as the application of Jarit 6 and Plipoth 10 to ensure contextual appropriateness. This qualitative foundation precedes the application of quantitative quasi-experimental research to examine empirical efficacy and predict relationships of spiritual factors like Gerotranscendence. The analysis concludes that mixed methods research serves as the ultimate strategy for legitimizing knowledge production in the field of integrated Buddhist psychology, as it seamlessly connects philosophical depth with empirical precision. This integrated approach significantly enhances the rigor and acceptance potential of research concerning spiritual interventions in the academic sphere. Keywords are Integrated Buddhist Psychology Mixed Methods Research Morale End-of-Life Care.
