Community-based Learning Activities in the Elderly College of Wiang Nua Sub-district Wiang Chai District, Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study community capital in Wiang Nua Sub-district which can be used to develop learning activities for the elderly in Elderly College of Wiang Nua District, and 2) create activities of learning from community capital in the Elderly College. Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology was used. Key informants were the elderly, leaders and administrators of the Wiang Nua District Elderly College. Research included interviewing and organizing community forums. The research was found that community capital consisted of intellectual capital (knowledge) and social-culture capital. The study was conducted in the college of the elderly through 4 activities: rhythmic activity, crafting activities, holistic health care with herbs and professional activities that lead to the exchange of learning.
