Abstract

The objective of this experimental research was to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrative individual counseling model to enhance emotional resilience of students. The population was undergraduate students whose families were affected by the unrest situations in the southern border provinces. The subjects in the study were 30 students purposively selected from 4 universities including Songkhla Rajabhat University. They were randomly assigned into three groups: two experiment groups and a control group. The research instruments included the integrative individual counseling model to emotional resilience consisted of 1) integrative counseling model based on rational emotive behavior theory, conducted 12 sessions of 60-90 minutes each; 2) social media counseling model based on solution-focused brief therapy, conducted 8 sessions of 60-90 minutes each. The data obtained were analyzed using two-way ANOVA repeated measurement.

The results were as follows: 1) the students’ emotional resilience after participating in the integrative counseling model and after the follow-up based on Rational emotive behavior theory was significantly higher than pre-test at .05 level; 2) the students’ emotional resilience after participating in the social media counseling model and after the follow-up based on solution-focused brief therapy was significantly higher than pre-test at .05 level; 3) the students’ emotional resilience after participating in the integrative counseling model and after the follow-up based on Rational emotive behavior theory was significantly higher than the control group at the .05 level (F = 50.076); 4) the students’ emotional resilience after participating in the social media counseling model and after the follow-up based on solution-focused brief therapy was significantly higher than the control group at the .05 level.
