Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1) to study the current and desirable states of university research network management to enhance sustainable development   2) to analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in university research network management to enhance sustainable development 3) to develop university research network management strategies to enhance sustainable development   Data were collected from 74 administrators and researchers. The tool used in this research was the questionnaire. Statistical analysis used to analyze data were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and PNI modified. The results showed that 1) The average of the desirable states of management were higher than the current states in all aspects. 2) The determination of goal and objective of the University Research Network, the determination and specification of role and responsibilities of network members, the management of communication system, the achievement of the win-win scenario of the network members, the university research network management underpinned by quality of work and transparency, the monitoring and the assessment of the university research network management were strengths in management of university research network management to enhance sustainable development.   The mapping of the university network, the developing of work plans of the university network, the obtainment of alternative financial resources for the network execution and the developing of contract templates and financial procedures that can be modified to suit individual network projects, procuring commitment of network members, the developing of the operational support for the university research network execution, the managing of human resource structure of the university research network, the formulating of operational guidelines coping with factors which effectively determine the operational outcome of the university research network, the managing of the information system of the university research network, the managing of the knowledge system of the university network and the activating of network members participation in networks were weaknesses in management.    

Regarding external factors of the University research network management to enhance sustainable development, politics and state policies including economy are threat towards the management. Society and technology were opportunity to the management.
