Readiness Preparation Project to Support the Social Change of Vulnerable Groups who Need Social Welfare in the Area Around Saraburi Government Complex in Takut Subdistrict, Mueang District, Saraburi Province

Abstract

This research had the following objectives: 1) to strengthen the learning potential of civil society leaders regarding caring for vulnerable groups in the area of social welfare of the people; and 2) to strengthen the skills and development of civil society leaders in solving problems of vulnerable groups in the area of public social welfare. The research used qualitative research methods: 1) in-depth interviews, 2) group discussions, and               3) a public forum to exchange knowledge among network leaders, in order to express opinions and suggestions with a sample group of 50 local members consisting of people in Takut subdistrict, Mueang district, Saraburi province. Affected people, local scholars, community leaders, and government officials who were involved or in charge from the Office of Social Development and Human Security, Saraburi province were selected by specific method. The qualitative data (Qualitative) were analyzed using descriptive data analysis methods (Descriptive) with content analysis (Content Analysis). The results of the research found that 1) strengthening the learning potential of civil society leaders regarding taking care of vulnerable groups in terms of social welfare of the people must rely on factors of leadership, volunteerism, health, knowledge and time, and 2) regarding strengthening and developing the skills of the leaders of people sector in solving problems of vulnerable groups in the area of social welfare of the people, it was found that the operators had knowledge only in the area which they were responsible for, and lacked the integration of working together and readiness to carry out activities.
