A Study on the Academic Supporting Program: Case Study of Academic Problems in Faculty of Education, Songkhla Rajabhat University

This experimental study was aimed to 1) compare the academic achievements of students with academic problems before and after participating in the Academic Supporting Program, and 2) investigate the students’ perceptionson the Academic Supporting Program. The participantsinthisstudy were14sophomoresand juniorsexperiencingacademic problems intheFacultyofEducation,SongkhlaRajabhat University, who wereselected using purposive sampling. The research instruments included 1) the Academic Supporting Program, and 2) a questionnairetoexaminethestudents’ perceptions toward the AcademicSupportingProgram. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs SignedRanksTest. Thefindings revealed that,after participatinginthe AcademicSupportingProgram, academic achievement of the participants significantly increased at 0.001 significance level. Concerning the students’ perception, it was found that 1) the satisfaction with the program was good, and 2) the program wasuseful becauseit increased their academic achievements, built positiveattitudetoward studying, raised their self-esteem,enhanced positive behaviors, and improved relationship among peers.
