The Development of Smartphone Informational and Push Notification Application on Android Operating System

Theobjectivesof this research wereto design, develop, test theinformationaland push
notifications application from Google Cloud Message on smartphone with Android operating
system, and study the satisfaction level of users. The research team applied the System
DevelopmentLife Cycle(SDLC) theory and UML diagram as theinstruments forobjectoriented
analyzing and designing. The programs used to develop the online system were Apache, PHP,
PHPMyAdmin and MySQL Database. The programs used to develop the system on Android
operatingsystemwereEclipse, Android DeveloperTools(ADT)and SQLite Database.The designed
application can inform students and faculty members about Phranakhon Rajabhat University
news by using Google Cloud Message. The application can send push notifications and news
tousers immediately and automatically. Hence,users willnot miss any information. Moreover,
the application can provide the service to unlimited number of users, and users can use the
applicationwithoutanyfees. Inaddition, theapplicationisabletosearchfor locationsand internal
phone numbers of the university. The research team registered the application in Google Play
for 51 students and teachersof thefacultyof Scienceand Technology atPhranakhonRajabhat
University to download, install,and usetheapplication. Dataonuser satisfaction was collected
througha questionnaireand analyzed byusing descriptivestatistics.Theresult showed that the
overall satisfaction was 3.95or at high level.
