Abstract

English curriculum design in Thai primary schools represents a critical issuereflecting the gap between educational policy, language teaching theory, and classroom practice, particularly in the Mini English Program (MEP). This article analyzes essential components affecting English language instruction effectiveness. Findings reveal that MEP success depends on integrating three fundamental factors: (1) continuous teacher
professional development in applied linguistics, competency-based teaching, and
stakeholder engagement; (2) curriculum design aligned with international standards and local contexts through diverse, flexible teaching methodologies responsive to learners' needs; and (3) monitoring and evaluation systems reflecting authentic learning outcomes through feedback mechanisms and continuous curriculum improvement. Therefore, MEP implementation requires comprehensive readiness assessment rather than operating within existing resource constraints. This article advocates for careful deliberation and genuine investment to ensure sustainable improvement in educational quality and
student language competence.
