Some Factors Influencing to the Adversity Quotient of Mathayomsaksa 3 in Nakhon Phanom Province

Abstract

The adversity quotient is essential to the life of people to make their success of
lives. This study investigated some factors influencing adversity quotient and developed a
model of some factors influencing to adversity quotient of Mathayomsaksa 3 in Nakhon
Phanom Province. The sample consisted of 684 Mathayomsaksa 3 students studying in 1nd
semester of academic year 2009 under 14 schools of the Office of Nakhon Phanom Educational
Area 1 and 2, obtained through the multi-stage random sampling technique. The instruments
used were 1) 2 instruments measuring, factors related to adversity quotient and adversity
quotient. These instruments had discrimination powers ranging from .34 - .58 and .33 - .65,
respectively. The total reliabilities were .81 and .87, respectively; 2) a test on intelligence.
These instruments had difficulty values ranging from .33 - .51, discrimination powers ranging
from .20 - .42 and reliabilities of .80. Data were analyzed by Path Analysis
The results of the study were as follows :
1. The causal factors influencing adversity quotient of Mathayomsaksa 3 in
Nakhon Phanom Province were 6 factors self-confidence, child-care, self-esteem, emotional
quotient, achievement motive, and intelligence quotient
2. Factor models affecting adversity quotient of these students that the fit model
showed the empirical data:  2 = 179.78, df = 156, p = 0.093; Goodness of Fit Index (GFI)


was 0.99; Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index (AGFI) was 0.97; Root Mean Square Residual (RMR)
was 0.30; Comparative Fit Index (CFI) was 1.00; Normed Fit Index (NFI) was 0.99; Relative Fit
Index (RFI) was 0.98; and Parsimony Goodness of Fit Index (PGFI) was 0.35.
In conclusion, several factors self-confidence, child-care, self-esteem, emotional
quotient, achievement motive, and intelligence quotient had affect to adversity quotient.
Therefore teachers, parents and students should give importance to these factors for
improve teaching and learning activities, for students have high of adversity quotient and can
take knowledge for applied to solve problems in life and future.
