A Development of Mathematics Skills by Using the Mathematics Tales for Early children at Anuban Wisit Amnuaysin School, Bueng Kan : A Time Cycle Process Action Research
Main Article Content
Abstract
Mathematics skills are essential in developing human thoughts causing human
to think creatively and rationally. Thus, there is mathematics skills enhancement
in early children. The time cycle process action research consisted of 8 actions.
The important rule was that after identifying the problems which needed to be
resolved, the subjects’ needs should be evaluated in order to plan problems’
solving orderly in each cycle. The researcher, thus, utilized this in developing the
basic mathematics skills of the students in kindergarten 1. This research aimed to
study mathematics learning achievements of early children taught by mathematics
in the time cycle process action research. The subjects in this research were 35
Kindergarten 1 students attending Anuban Wisit Amnuaysilp, Bungkan District, Bungkan
Province under the Nongkhai Offce of Educational Services Area Zone 3, who were
studying in the academic year of 2010, obtained using the purposive random sampling
technique. Research instruments were 1) an early children’s basic mathematics skills
evaluation, 2) a need analysis of basic mathematics skills in the early children, 3)
early children’s mathematics skill evaluation sets, 4) 18 lesson plans, 5) an early
children’s mathematics advancement evaluation, 6) an interview form, and 7) lesson
plans records. Statistics used in data analyses were percentage, mean, and standard
deviation.
Research results were found that in developing mathematics skills by using
mathematics tales in the time process action research in the frst process cycle time
most of the students had development in counting, numeric knowledge, and matching
at good and very good level, which was satisfactory. Thus, the researcher continued
the second process cycle time by developing the matching and ordering which most
of the students had development at good and very good level.
In conclusion, the time cycle process action research was able to develop
mathematics skills of the early children and this could be guidelines for the teachers
to apply this time cycle process action research in teaching and learning in order to
develop the early children’s mathematics skills with higher effciency.
