Political Participation in Democracy According To Buddhism of the People in Muang District, Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

The objectives of the research were: 1, to study the level of political participation in democracy of the people in Muang District, Chaiyaphum Province, 2, to compare the political participation in democracy of the people in Muang District, Chaiyaphum Province, classified by personal factors, 3, to present the political participation in democracy according to Buddhism of the people in Muang District, Chaiyaphum Province by applying Saraniyadhamma principles. The research method was the combined research method. The qualitative research collected data from 9 key informants with in-depth interviews and the quantitative research collected data with questionnaires from 400 samples. The tools were questionnaires and interview formats. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentages, mean, standard deviation. Hypotheses were tested by t-test and F-test and the data were analyzed descriptively.

The results of the research found that  1)  the level of political participation in democracy of the people in Muang District, Chaiyaphum Province overall was high (X=3.95)  classified by side as follows:  voting in an election (X=4.09) changing the people holding important government positions (X=4.08) voting in a referendum (X=3.91)  having the right to propose the draft law (X=3.88)  deciding on important issues regarding government policy (X=3.78) respectively.  2. The comparative results found that the people with different sex had on different opinions.
