The Analytical Study of the Center in Theravada Buddhist Philosophy

Abstract

This article aims to study and analyze the center in Theravada Buddhist philosophy and using scientific information to support the research.  This is because science has  researched many  things about the center of things  such as the center of the galaxy, that of the earth and that of the human body.

The results of the research found that the center of mass in Theravada Buddhist philosophy corresponds to that in science.  Because the center of mass is the point where all matter appears to be concentrated.  It is a stable and balanced position. Theravada Buddhist philosophy has a sutra that describes constellations revolving around the universe, which corresponds to the science that the earth and sun orbit around the center of mass of the solar system.  Medical science can locate the center of mass within the body.  This corresponds to the position of the center of the body that Venerable Phramongkolthepmuni (Sod Candasaro)  described.  The center of the body is also the location of the soul (consciousness-element) that attracts the earth-element, water-element, fire-element, air-element, and space-element to
