The Level of Good Governance in the Administration of Mongkon Kowittaram Temple, Pathum Subdistrict, Muang District, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Abstract

This study aimed to find the level of good governance and the guidelines of good governance forming in the administration of Mongkonkowittaram Temple, Pathum Subdistrict,  Muang District, Ubon Ratchathani Province in order to create a good governance administration in the temple.  This study was conducted quantitatively and qualitatively by collecting data with questionnaires from 245 samples,  in-depth interviewing 18 key informants. participatory observing  and  analyzing the related documents.  The results of study revealed that the good governance level found in Mongkonkowittaram Temple was entirely presented at the high level.  Considering each perspective from high to low it was as follows: the highest good governance level was the administration by rule of law and then the administrations of moral principles, participation, worthiness, responsibility, and transparency respectively, corresponding to qualitative analysis from in-depth interviews.

In relations to forming the guidelines of good governance administration of Mongkonkowittaram Temple, for the rule of law, the temple should plan, improve , regulate and supervise monks and laymen more strictly.  For moral principles, the temple should adhere to justice and support the participants in self-developing organizations to be faithful, diligent, patient, orderly in performing honest jobs regularly, and behaving as a social ideal.  According to transparency,  the temple should  listen to or accept opinions of all participants and the directly affected groups and also allow the community to supervise the temple benefits.
