An Effective Temple Management Model in Bang Na District, Bangkok

Abstract
This research aimed to 1) study the effective management of temples in Bang Na District, Bangkok; 2) study the factors affecting effective temple management; and 3) create an effective temple management model. The research employed a mixed methods approach. Quantitative data was collected through questionnaires from a sample of 155 monks in Bang Na District, Bangkok, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Qualitative data was collected through in-depth interviews with 20 key informants, including temple administrators and temple administrators, and analyzed using content analysis.
The research findings revealed that: 1) The overall effectiveness of temple management in Bang Na District, Bangkok, was at a high level, with a mean of (=3.97, S.D. =0.665);
2) The factors affecting effective temple management were also at a high level, with a mean of
(=4.11, S.D. =0.413); and 3) The developed effective temple management model integrated modern management principles with Buddhist doctrines and discipline, comprising systemic planning. A clear structure and roles for personnel management and staff development, effective direction and command, coordination of networks of temples, communities, and related agencies, a transparent reporting and communication system, and cost-effective and auditable budgeting are essential to enhance temple management in line with the current social context and ensure sustainability.
