QUALITY OF WORK LIFE OF POLICE IN THE INSURGENCY SOUTHERN BORDER PROVINCES OF THAILAND

Abstract

This research aimed to study quality of work life of the police in the insurgency southern border provinces in Thailand, as well as, to study the factors related to such quality of work life. The samples were 385 police officers from both commissioned officers and non – commissioned officers serving duties in Yalaa, Pattani, and Narathiwat. Questionnaires, and statistics analyses which are average, standard deviation, independent sample t – test, and one – way ANOVA F – test were governed as tools of the research. The findings revealed that the police serving duties in the insurgency southern border provinces in Thailand were male 80.8 percent, and female 19.2 percent. There was 66.8 percent of the police having perception of risk encountering while performing duties. There was 79.5 percent of the police receiving extra payment. There was 88.6 percent of the police having good relationships with their colleagues. Most of the police had quality of work life at the meddle level (=3.490, S.D. = 0.610). As for the factors affecting the quality of work life, differences of ages, education background, monthly income, levels, marital status, and duration of duties performance resulted in levels of the quality of life which were statistically significantly different at 0.05. Still, there were factors being not statistically significantly different at 0.05 which were gender, risk, extra payment, and relationships in offices.
