The Role of Tio-chew Jogger Club on Area Management for Public Activities of Civil Society in the Area of Tio-chew Cemetery

Abstract

The objectives of this qualitative research were to study the role, implementation design, problems, obstacles and solving problem solution on area management for public activities of civil society in the area of Tio-chew cemetery. Research data is collected through in-depth interviews. A sample group was selected from ten out of Tio-chew jogger club’s members who have the characteristic of administrators and also people who come for using the health park, using purposive sampling method. (The sample group agree to allow the disclosure of their personal informations) All the data collected by the researchers were analyzed the details in order to summarize issues related to the research topic.

          The findings revealed that there are three phenomenon issues to push transformation on this area (1) Tio-chew jogger club plays an important role to push forward the area change. From the initiation of mainstay of transformational leader in Tio-chew jogger club who engaged in the development from their own capital and individual belief which are very good idea resulted in appreciation of people in this community to concern about the important of area development. (2) It derives from area participatory aevelpment by forming a group to develop the area in form of party network and civil society. (3) It derives from civil society with Tio-chew jogger club’s member who came up to play the role in public activity arrangement in the area of              Tio-chew cemetery without government sector initiation and private sector administration.

          Currently Tio-chew cemetery becomes more famous since Tio-chew jogger club has taken part in landscape improvement but there are other factors that might impact on area management of Tio-chew jogger club in the future so the researchers suggest Tio-chew jogger club to clearly plan for job positions and inheritance and define goals and vision in the same way of Tio-chew jogger club’s members. And because Tio-chew jogger club didn’t define the qualifications of candidate to hold the position the might impact on driving the improvement process constantly and especially Tio-chew cemetery is administered by civil society, therefore, Tio-chew jogger club is responsible for everything which also include budget. Sathon district office and Tio-chew cemetery, Thailand should participate more and constantly play the role in public activity arrangement ; as well as, clearly set the schedule for activity arrangement to maintain and create better interaction to be strong community. To be typical model for other civil societies in creating the area participatory development and to be a case study of cemetery area management, it is important that there should be promoted through the public relations continually.
