Lesson Learned Community Participation in Design thinking Process : A Case study of Community conservation and Renewal Project at Taladnoi District, Bangkok Metropolis

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research were to analyze lessons learned on key success factors of community participation in the design thinking process under a case study of community conservation and renewal project in Taladnoi area, Samphanthawong District, Bangkok and to propose the guidelines for promoting community participation in the design thinking process for old town community conservation in Bangkok. This study was a qualitative research. The data were collected by studying and analyzing final summary report of community conservation and renewal project in Taladnoi and continuous area. In addition, in-depth interview and post-operative analysis were conducted. The research results were presented descriptively. The researcher went the actual site for data collection. The interview was conducted with snowball technique. The sample was 20 community leaders and local people in the community who participated in the project. The research results revealed that key success factors of community participation were that the government sector provided thorough information by inviting all parties from government section, entrepreneurs, stakeholders, religious institutions, Taladnoi lovers and interested people in Taladnoi community to participate in the design thinking process to promote the community’s participation in determining the direction of district development, determining project area, preparing master plan, selecting pilot area, preparing a pilot area details and making recommendations and ways to improve the landscape. Besides, community ownership and pride in participating in community development should be encouraged. These processes could be applied as the guidelines to create community participation in the old town communities of Bangkok and others.
