Learning Management Using SQ4R Technique and Multimedia Storybooks to Develop English Reading Skills of Matthayomsuksa 2 Students

Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1) to develop multimedia storybooks to be effective according to 80/80 criteria 2) to compare English reading skills of Mathayom Suksa 2 students before and after learning by using SQ4R learning management with multimedia storybooks 3) to compare the English language learning achievement of Mathayomsuksa 2 students before and after using SQ4R learning management and multimedia storybooks 4) to study the satisfaction of Mathayomsuksa 2 students studying by using SQ4R learning management technique together with multimedia storybook . The sample group used in this research was 20 students in the Mathayomsuksa 2 Thessabal 2 (Ban Malayu bangkok) School Yala City Municipality, Yala Province, Academic Year 2020, obtained by Cluster Random Sampling. The research uses were 1) storybooks to promote reading with multimedia to improve English reading skills. Secondary School Year 2, 5 volumes, 2)English reading learning plan using SQ4R technique combined with multimedia storybooks , Foreign Language Learning Subject Group (English) Mathayom Suksa 2 3) English reading skills test of Mathayomsuksa 2 4) Academic Achievement Test Foreign Language Learning Subject Group (English), Mathayomsuksa 2 and 5) Assessment form of student satisfaction with learning by learning management SQ4R together with storybooks to promote reading with multimedia.

Results of the research were as follows:

1. SQ4R Learning Management with Storybooks Encouraged Multimedia Reading found average of the efficiency was totally equal 89.65/87.87 according to the specified criteria.

2. Reading skill of the students SQ4R Learning Management with Storybooks EncouragedMultimedia Reading to improve reading skills in English Matthayomsuksa 2 after the SQ4R learning higher than before the learning was significantly at the .01 level.

3. The academic achievement students before and after the learning by SQ4R Learning Management with Storybooks Encouraged Multimedia Reading was found that the students Matthayomsuksa 2 use SQ4R Learning Management with Storybooks Encouraged Multimedia Reading has academic achievement after the SQ4R learning higher than before the learning was significantly at the .01 level.

4. The students’ satisfaction by using SQ4R Learning Management with Storybooks Encouraged Multimedia Reading was at the high level (= 4.65)
