THE MODEL FOR PROMOTING SUFFICIENCY BEHAVIOR ACCORDING TO THE BUDDHIST WAY

Abstract

The Research article on "The Model for Promoting Sufficiency Behavior according to the Buddhist Way" is aimed at:  1) to analyze key characteristics of Gihi-sukha (house-life happiness)  and the sufficiency economy principles 2) to study the problems causes and effects of insufficient behavior in Thai consumerism, the pattern of practice in accordance with Gihi-sukha  (house-life happiness) and the sufficiency economy principles of the people in Thai society  3) to propose a way forward model for promoting sufficiency behavior according to the Buddhist way in Thai society. The research results are as follows            The lifestyle behavior of Thai people in today's society causes many problems, classified as a problem of lack of living factors, problems in the lack of sufficient capacity for solving problems, Including the problem of creating a debt burden to aggravate oneself and family, which the problem affects the individual and the broader perspective in society, reflecting through the economic, social, crime and bankruptcy issues of the family institution.

          Solving the problems of the lifestyle of Thai people in the present society must use principles that support self-sufficient behavior consisting of  Gihi-sukha (house-life happiness), Sufficiency economy principles and dharmic principles such as Sikkhàttaya (the Threefold Learning),  Santosa (contentment), Diññhadhammikattha (virtues conducive to benefits in the present), Sappurisa-dhamma (qualities of a good man), which has 3 aspects which are to create the correct knowledge, create the correct practice model and create a positive attitude towards sufficiency behavior throughout life.
