Abstract

This article is part of the dissertation of the factors causing personality of  Bodhisatta  to be Buddha  in Theravada Buddhist  Philosophy. The purpose of this article was to study the concept of personality by Buddhist philosophy and the concept of Buddhist philosophy on personality development. The methodology of research is a qualitative research study. It is a qualitative research based on the study of information in the Tipitaka, documents and related research. The study indicated that personality as perceived by the Buddhist philosopher means the behavior of the person. Both appearing and not appearing outside. The behavior is intentional. The concept of Buddhist philosophy about personality development refers to the development of the behavior of the person is intended as a conductor. Including the system of thinking and emotions that adapt to social environment. The principle of personality development is based on threefold path. There are sila, concentration and wisdom the guidelines for the development of physical, mental, wisdom and environment. The result is a good personality and the ultimate goal of life.
