Farmer’s Opinions towards the Operation and Managerial Administration of Community Rice Center in Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study 1) basic data of the community rice center, 2) basic social and economic data of members of the community rice center, 3) conditions of rice seed production and 4) farmer’s opinions towards the operation and managerial administration of community rice center. Data were collected from members of community rice centers that had been in operation for more than 20 years and had been awarded the National Farmer's Institute of Excellence in the category of community rice product promotion center. There were 89 members From whom data were collected by using questionnaire and were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The opinion was categorized into 5 scales: highest, high, moderate, low, and lowest. The results found that most of the members were female and had graduated from primary school. They were aged between 51-70 years old and had more than 10 years of experience in rice cultivation. The Mai Na Phiang Community Rice Center produced non-glutinous rice seeds (Khao Dawk Mali 105), while the Waeng Yai Community Enterprise of the Community Rice Center produced glutinous rice seeds (RD6). Members' opinions were at the highest level, particularly in the operation and managerial administration of paddy field management, and at a high level in areas such as production and distribution of seeds, marketing, working capital, and overall operation.
