This study aims to examine the laxative properties of local Lanna foods suitable for the elderly. A review of local Lanna food menus, local herbs and vegetables processing properties to relieve constipation or laxatives was conducted using relevant textbooks. Focus groups were held with 12 key informants to select and analyze local Lanna food menus that had laxative properties suitable for the elderly. The selected menu information was then analyzed for the specific herbs and local vegetables that relieve constipation or had laxative properties. The results found that there were 27 Northern Thai local food menus that were suitable for recommendation to elderly people with constipation. The top 6 menus with the highest concentration of vegetables and herbs possessing laxative properties are Nam Phrik Kha with Pak Jim, followed by Gaeng Khae, Gaeng Marum, Gaeng Khanun, Gaeng Salae and Sa Phak, respectively. The ingredients of these contain local vegetables and herbs with proven laxative properties. Consuming these dishes can facilitate bowel movements, making them suitable alternative dietary options for elderly individuals. Additionally, Thai traditional medicine practitioners now have an opportunity to unitize these findings to promote and restore the health of elderly patients with constipation
