Vetiver Grass and Agricultural Stability Creation: A Case Study of Ban Tha Thong Mango Group Community Enterprise, Pak Nam Subdistrict, Doem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphan Buri Province
Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract: The objectives of this research were to identify the lessons learned on the success of integrating vetiver grass into agricultural areas at Ban Tha Thong Mango Group Community Enterprise, Pak Nam subdistrict, Doem Bang Nang Buat district, Suphan Buri province. The study adopted an in-depth interview with eight key informants. Data analysis applied the Theory of Change and the Impact Value Chain concept to examine the process of social change that led to long-term outcomes. This study provides recommendations and guidelines for expanding the benefits of integrating vetiver grass into agriculture. The study found that the operations of the community enterprise reflect systematic outcomes driven by five key processes:
1) identifying community problem conditions; 2) finding solutions to farmers' problems; 3) expanding the use of vetiver grass by community enterprise groups; 4) expanding benefits from vetiver grass to create added value for agricultural products; and 5) striking to become an exemplar region for the promotion of vetiver grass utilization within agricultural landscapes. These key factors are an important mechanism that will lead to sustainable occupational stability for farmers in the community in the future.
