Abstract

The objective of this study was to study the durian production conditions, Needs and problems in promoting durian production. The study focused on a population of 52 farmers who cultivated large plots of durian in Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The research findings showed that the majority of participants were male, with an average age of 54.31 years, and had completed primary school education. There were four members per household, and their primary occupation was agriculture. Farmers cultivated Mon Thong durian on 6.77 rai of land, primarily in loamy soil, and they watered the plants approximately 2.98 times per week. Farmers utilized both chemical and organic fertilizers in their cultivation practices. Sales predominantly occur locally, with an average selling price of durian produced at 135.67 baht per kilogram. There was a need for knowledge on promoting durian production at a high level (mean 4.07). The need for promotion channels is through personal media. There is a problem with the overall need for promoting durian production at a high level (mean 3.72). Therefore, relevant agencies should develop guidelines for promoting durian production in line with the true needs of farmers and use media to reach farmers more efficiently.
