Developing the Potential of Ban Phon Thong Native Cotton Weaving Group, Pak Chom District, Loei Province

Abstract
The objectives of this study are to 1) determine the current status of the Ban Phon Thong native cotton weaving group, and study and devise strategies for enhancing the capabilities of the group in the Pak Chom district of Loei province The interview was conducted with community organizations, village leaders, development specialists, and academic researchers. The information was gathered through meeting and group discussion. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The results showed that: 1) The group was founded in 2007 with the purpose of weaving fabrics to generate income. Currently, there are 20 members remaining out of the original 35.Utilizing locally grown cotton as a weaving material is the group's greatest asset. The group needs to improve its continuity in activities.2) Guidance for capacity development is as follows: (2.1) Management: Training and consulting (2.2) Production: Planning the utilization of materials and employing various production techniques (2.3) Product: Training and consulting with specialists (2.4) Market: Training and network development with the government sector.
