Abstract

There are good water resources in the community of Ban Mae Jok Fah community, Thung Phueng subdistrict, Chae Hom district, Lampang province. There are farming lands next to the Mae Fah River, and they do not plant any crops during the flooding periods. The purpose of this research is to provide communities with a learning process in managing existing water resources for their maximum benefits. The sample group studied was: farmers who have agricultural plots next to the Mae Fah River, and 26 key informants and 4 hands-on farmers Data was collected through focus group discussion and interview. The study involved participatory action research in 5 steps: 1) Planning meetings to conduct research with community representatives, community leaders and network partners. 2) Creating tools and designing data collection methods. 3) Visiting the area to explore the Mae Fah River Basin. 4) Analyzing survey data, and 5) Implementing the experiment. The results showed that communities learned from being involved in operations. They use water for farming by growing crops suitable to the weather conditions. The agricultural products can be eaten and sold to generate income for the family.
