Satisfaction on Cash Allowance, the Social Welfare Provision for the Elderly in Ban Don Pradu, Pak Phayun Districts, Phatthalung Province

Abstract

Social welfare provision is an essential service system for the elderly, especially when the society is becoming aging. Being knowledgeable and aware of the elderly satisfaction on the cash allowance provision will improve the services and support their demands. This quantitative study aimed to examine: (1) the level, and (2) to compare the elderly’s satisfaction on the cash allowance provision in Ban Don Pradu, Pak Phayun Districts, Phatthalung Province. The study was conducted with 295 elderly persons in Don Pradu municipality, Pak Phayun Districts, Phatthalung Province by specific sampling. For measuring the satisfaction in the cash allowance provision, which were separated into seven areas: standards of the service, determination and disclosure of information, alternatives in consultation, politeness and assisting system, understanding and the error correction, the performance, and location and environments. Data on the elderly’s satisfaction were collected by using the questionnaire analyzed by the statistical computer program to find out the percentage, arithmetic means, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (one-way Anova). The findings are organized in two sections: (1) the overall of the elderly’s satisfaction in cash allowances provision was high level (= 4.19). The elderly’s satisfaction in cash allowances provision was average level at 4.37, 4.25, 4.24, 4.30, 4.23, 4.17 and 3.76 respectively; and (2) the comparison of the elderly’s satisfaction in cash allowances provision was no difference in gender, occupation, and income; however, there were differences and significance in age between the elderly aged 80-89, the lower satisfaction was found significantly at the level of 0.05.
