Political Practices of Award-Winning Local Female Politicians in Surat -Thani Province: An Analytical Framework of Feminist Concepts and Ideologies

Abstract
This study aims to examine the political practices of competent local female politicians in Surat Thani Province under the framework of feminism and political ideology. It is based on the hypothesis that women's political participation is not merely the performance of roles within power structures, but is intertwined with the formation of diverse ideologies and reflects new concepts of power, equality, and gender justice. This research uses a qualitative case study methodology, employing the model case studies of female politicians who received the "Quality Local Politician" award in the year P. Professor 2567 2024 (B.E. 2567), including those from Tha Kham Municipality, Phunphin District, and Chaiyakhram Sub-district Administrative Organization, Don Sak District, to analyze the structure, roles, and political strategies that reflect the integrated mechanism between personal ideology and public space operations. The research findings indicate that 1) the political actions of both female politicians align with feminist concepts based on cultural and postmodern feminism, as well as structural feminism. 2) The political actions are the result of self-positioning in the local political arena, which combines formal and informal political mechanisms. This is a condition for creating productivity thru tangible achievements in each area creates tangible achievements through productive political engagement. Under this finding, it shows that These findings show that female politicians are not only political actors in a structural sense but also key players in creating space and connecting feminist identities in the contemporary Thai local political arena. Therefore, it is proposed that the government and relevant agencies to design flexible support mechanisms, promoting to promote the informal on-the-ground work of women politicians to align with the cultural feminist identity discovered identified in this study.
