Potential Development Strategy of Ban Plai Khlong Self-Reliant Economy Community in Tapan Subdistrict, Phunphin District, Surat Thani Province

Abstract

          The objectives of this research are to study context and problems of potential development of self-reliant economy community and to study the potential development of Ban Plai Khlong self-reliant economy community in Tapan Subdistrict, Phun Phin District, Surat Thani Province. Thirty specified samples are representatives of organizations at Ban Plai Khlong community groups, which are leaders, community's presidents, and also members of the community. Materials are in in-depth interviews, focus group discussion, workshop stages, and SWOT analysis. The results indicated that certain areas of Ban Plai Khlong are plains, with the Tapee River flowing through The results indicated that certain areas of Ban Plai Khlong are plains, with the Tapee River flowing through them, which is appropriate for agriculture such as rubber and oil palm plantations. The community faces challenges in developing a self-reliant economy due to inadequate management knowledge and understanding, as well as a deficiency in public relations. The government does not give any importance to potential development, which has resulted in the missing ability for new creations. There are four potential strategies for developing a self-reliant economic community: 1) SO Strategy: Community development to develop their self-reliant economy. The members can plan the development plan and create activities to develop their occupations, 2) WO Strategy: An academic knowledge training for the members to have a sustainable, self-reliant community and to develop the infrastructure, 3) ST Strategy: Synergize a network of groups in the community under government cooperation and cooperation to develop their self-reliant community, and 4) WT Strategy: There should be a plan for developing the potential of a self-reliant economy community and the community's infrastructure.
