Cultural Heritage Management : A Case Study of Khun Sattha Shrine at Ban Thakhae, Thakhae Sub-district, Muang District, Phatthalung Province

Abstract

The research‘s purpose is to study the mode of cultural heritage management in beliefs and rituals which are focused on the Khun Sattha shrine Ban Thakhae, Thakhae village. The research methodology is qualitative research. The data collected from field work. The processes are deep interview and focus group with key informant. The research results are 1. Annual Rong Khru ritual happen at the area of the shrine to establish a sacred space of the village that related to Khun Sattha belief. 2. The development of this area related to a cultural tourist attraction and raise Rong Khru ritual to an annual fair of Phatthalung province. A key reason of these events is the decentralize policy to advance all countryside by their valued culture and committee form. 3. The protections of Khun Sattha’s belief and Rong Khru ritual are to make the open space of beliefs on this shrine and ritual area, such as prohibiting some ignorant related to commercial activities from the outsiders. The committees have good governance with the financial management. These protections last to care the believers as well as the cultural heritage’s fame of community onwards.
