The Development of Enrichment Curriculum for Develop the Social Skills on the Coexistence in the Multiculturalism

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to : Validate the efficiency of the enrichment curriculum for developing the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students, study the effectiveness of the enrichment curriculum for developing the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students, evaluate the competency of social skills for the coexistence in the multiculturalism on five skills, investigate student’s opinions after using the enrichment curriculum for developing the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students, and extend the enrichment curriculum for developing the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students to the basic education. The research procedure consisted 4 steps; step 1 Need assessing for develop the enrichment curriculum for developing the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students to the basic education, step 2 Developing and validating the enrichment curriculum for developing the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students to the basic education, step 3 Implementing the curriculum for the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students to the basic education, and step 4 Evaluate the curriculum. The research findings were;


  1. The curriculum developed to develop the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students aimed to develop social skills included; communication skills, respect skills, collaboration skills, unity skills, and multiculturalism acceptance skills by using contemplative education, cooperative learning, and project based learning. The curriculum consists of three units which included; unit 1 self learning and self-disclosure, unit 2 learning and accept others, and unit 3 focuses on improving society. The developed curriculum was conducted to determine by the experts, and the consistency of the course outlines were found to be suitable at the highest level, and were consistent.

  2. The outcomes of the enrichment curriculum to develop the social skills the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students on five skills found that, a percentage of the average were at high level such as communication skills, respect skills, collaboration skills, unity skills, and multiculturalism acceptance skills. The result of students’ opinions toward using enrichment curriculum to develop social skills on the coexistence in multiculturalism for students found that students’ opinion were at the highest level.

3. The results of extended the enrichment curriculum for developing the social skills on the coexistence in the multiculturalism for students to the basic education were at high level.
