Evidence of Dvaravati Period in Nakhon Pathom City

Abstract

The ancient Nakhon Pathom city appeared the evidences of community’s settlement since pre-history age and inherit growth to region or territory was called “Dvaravati”. Even if there was no clearly identification to the center of Dvaravati, the most technocrat’s presumption gave precedence to three of ancient city in low land of the Chaowpaya and branch such as U-Thong, Kuboi and ancient Nakhon Pathom city. Because of the evidences of prosperity to created a special ,that was a unique pattern called Dvaravati art. Especially from excavation of ancient Nakhon Pathom city found canal and ridgeline of agreat religious place, many kind of antiques work and the wheel of the law stone more than other city in same period. And analysis from work of art’s pattern mold and architectural work found arts and culture in ancient Nakhon Pathom was developed to a level to custom and expanded the influence to others region both in culture and politics. Especially expansion to U-Thong and Kuboi which in low land of Ta-Chang – Mae Khong which specified that ancient Nakhon Pathom city was the big and importance city and maybe was a center of Dvaravati state, at least in a short term which had political power cover through the low land of Ta-Chang – Mae Khong.
