Conceptions of women in Southern Thai historiography

Abstract
Conservative period; in the form of inscriptions, chronicles and academic modern historiography; to analyze the idea of writing a thesis on women in each period. The study found that conceptions towards women in modern historiography tradition that relate basically toreligious activities and to some political events. This reflects the idea of the authors (inscriptions and chronicles) that expect women to be a good Buddhist coupled with the idea of a good local lady. On the other hand, the historiography of modern expect that women in the context of a civil state, be a good female like a heroine (an idol) of the state. The former is dominated by images of women that would reflect the author’s concept (inscriptions, chronicles and academic modern historiography) that the quality of women in the historiography of southern Thailand must be that of a good citizen which need to behave like a Siamese lady, even among local conservative who had practiced a long time
