Need Survey of Japanese 1-4 Textbook for the Japanese Major Students, Thaksin University

Abstract

The objective of this survey research was to assess the need of Japanese 1-4 textbook for the Japanese major students, Thaksin University. The sample was 103 Japanese major students, Thaksin University selected by Taro Yamane method by using an accidental sampling method. The Questionnaires were used to collect data between July and August 2018. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.  The research results were as follows: 1) the top four highest needs are the content requirements in textbook. The need for a related grammar explanation in the chapter was at the highest level ( gif.latex?\bar&space;x= 4.57, S.D. = 0.65). On the other hand, the need for a picture was at the lowest level (gif.latex?\bar&space;x= 3.82, S.D. = 1.09). 2) The highest need of textbook format was the furigana above the kanji (31.07%). The highest need of textbook content was a related grammar explanation in the chapter (31.07%). The highest need of textbook artwork was the composition in each page is interesting and motivation provoking (22.33%). The highest need of the exercises was a variety of exercises (31.07%). However, no significant percentage difference was found.
