The Forest Monastery and Environment Preservation

Abstract
The aim of this article is to explain the environmental problem that resulted from development without the environmental moral, then present a solution by using the forest monastery’s moral as a role model. Because of the scientific and technological progress, the world has rapidly developed. But the development without the environmental moral is often the cause of disaster. If the man is not sincere to find a solution, the problem could soon accumulate and be extraordinary disaster. Buddhism occurred to solve the world’s problems. This is clear in history of the Buddha, in his teachings and in tradition of the forest monastery construction including the present forest monastery’s moral. These pieces of evidence have clearly shown the harmonious relationship between Buddhism and environment. Thus, all sectors have to recognize the necessity for revival of the forest monastery for balance of the world through its 2 basic roles; 1) The place of meditation practice. It would make The people realize their own lives, society and environment and then behave appropriately. 2) Saving the forests. The rich forests can save the biodiversity and the ecological balance.
