บทคัดย่อ

This research aims to study Arabic vocabulary found in 19th-century Malay medical manuscripts, which reflect medical wisdom transmitted from the Islamic world to the Malay region. This research employed qualitative methodology through document analysis of the ancient manuscript "Tayyib Al-Ihsan fi Tibb Al-Insan" by Sheikh Wan Ahmad bin Wan Muhammad Zain Al-Fathoni, utilizing Bourdieu's Cultural Capital Theory to analyze the data. The findings revealed 299 Arabic medical terms that can be classified into 5 categories: medicinal remedies (64%), diseases (20%), body systems (7%), treatment methods (5%), and measurement units (4%). The analysis demonstrates systematic knowledge transmission processes through well-organized documentation, with evidence of knowledge integration and adaptation to local contexts. A significant finding that can be developed into soft power is that knowledge from these ancient manuscripts has potential for development into health products and digital databases that can connect and integrate traditional culture with modern innovations. This would enhance cultural empowerment and create economic value from intellectual heritage. Furthermore, integrating this knowledge into local education systems can strengthen cultural identity and promote diversity in multicultural societies.
