The Guideline of Professional Learning Community’s Activities Development in Phumsamit School

Abstract

             The purposes of this research were (1) to explore the current and desired professional learning community’s activities of Phumsamit School and (2) to develop the guideline for the development of professional learning community’s activities of Phumsamit School. The research had been conducted in 2 parts, which were (1) exploring of current and desired professional learning community’s activities in Phumsamit School by conducting questionnaires with all 49 teachers in school to assess needs of those activities., and (2) developing the guideline of professional learning community’s activities development by conducting interviews with 5 experts consisted 2 academic educators and 3 principals.

              The research findings showed that the activities those had high needs for development were contained in 1.) Preparation Meeting, 2.) Lesson Development and 3.) Intra-School Communication Stage. The highest needs activities were 1.) feedbacking of model teacher’s instruction by buddy teachers, 2.) explaining of teachers roles and and responsibilities in professional learning communities by principal, and 3.) feedbacking the instruction of model teacher within a day after the observation is done.

               The study also showed that the the guideline for the development of professional learning community’s activities of Phumsamit School consisted 1.) the principal should determine the professional learning community’s goal with participation of teacher, 2.) the principal should understand the concept of professional learning community profoundly, 3.) the principal should determine frameworks and patterns of activities, 4.) teachers in each learning group should feedback instruction plan in accordance with backward design thinking, 5.) teachers in each learning group should identify critical issue of each instructions, 6.) the observation should be focused on such critical issue, 7.) the observation should be relevant to such critical issue, 8.) the observation should be recording by either video or paper 9.) each learning group should have an online communication channel, and 10.) the school should provide shared data storage.
