Proposed policy to improve quality of work life of Rajabhat Universities’ staff

Abstract

              The objectives of this research were to: 1) survey and assess the quality of work life of Rajabhat Universities’ staff; 2) study the guidelines to improve quality of work life of Rajabhat Universities’ staff; and 3) develop the proposed policy for development of quality of work life of Rajabhat Universities’ staff. There were 3 research processes: 1) studying the quality of work life of Rajabhat Universities’ staff; 2) developing a draft of proposed policy for development of work life of Rajabhat Universities’ staff; and 3) confirming the draft of proposed policy. The research sample was 1) 593 academic and supporting staff in Rajabhat Universities; 2) 22 Rajabhat Universities’ staff; and 9 stakeholders. The data were collected by a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview form. Data were analyzed with percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.  


               The results of this research found that 1) quality of work life include (1) Rajabhat University compensation is adequate and fair is moderate ( =2.52) (2) with regard to working conditions, safety and health promotion. There are at least level ( =2.43) (3) the stability and progress in the work at least level ( =2.50) (4) development of the person is at least level ( =2.31) (5) social integration or interoperability level ( =2.45)  (6) on the rights of the employee or seating according to the Constitution is at least level  ( =2.42) (7) on the balance between work and personal life are at least level ( =2.50) and (8) safety related and beneficial to society, at least level ( =2.08) 2) Regarding the guidelines to improve the quality of work life of Rajabhat Universities’ staff were adequate and fair compensation payment, encouragement of growth and security at work, development of personnel capacity. 3) The proposed policies for improvement of the quality of work life of Rajabhat Universities’ staff were determining compensation according to related rules and regulations, extending the employment contract to 60 years of age, and supporting the production of graduates more than academic works.
