Abstract

           The purposes of this research were to study: 1) quality of work life of professional nurses in secondary care hospital   2) performance of nursing and midwifery practice standards of professional nurses in secondary care hospital 3) quality of work life of professional nurses affecting to the performance of nursing and midwifery practice standards secondary care hospital. The samples of this research were 234 professional nurses in secondary care hospitals .  The research instrument was a questionnaire regarding the quality of work life based on the concept of Walton and performance of nursing and midwifery practice standards of professional nurses base on Nursing Council guideline The statistics were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis.

            The research findings revealed that      

  1. Quality of work life of professional nurses in secondary care hospital, as a whole was found at the high level when classify were found 6 aspects at the high level, 2 aspects at the moderate level; ranking from the highest to the lowest were social integration, constitutionalism, social relevance, development of human capacities, growth and security, total life space and other 2 aspects at a moderate level include safe and healthy environment, adequate and fair compensation.
  2. Performance of nursing and midwifery practice standards of professional nurses in secondary care hospital as a whole and individual were found at the high level when Descending by mean were standard 3: quality development of nursing and midwifery practices standard 4 continuous care management, standard 1: the use of nursing procedures in nursing and midwifery practice, standard 5, recording and reporting, standard 2: treatment of patient rights professional ethics and ethics
  3. Quality of work life of professional nurses: the hygienic and safe environment, the social integration in workplace, the fair and reasonable remuneration affecting the practice of nursing and midwifery standards of professional nurses in secondary hospital.
