CHANGE MANAGEMENT AFFECTING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS UNDER THE OFFICE OF BASIC EDUCATION IN NAKHON PATHOM PROVINCE

Abstract

           This research aimed to study: 1) the level of change management in educational schools; 2) the level of education schools’ effectiveness; and 3) change management affecting educational schools’ effectiveness. The research sample, derived by proportional stratified random sampling and distributed by districts, was 234 administrators and head of learning group secondary schools under the office of basic education in Nakhon Pathom Province. The research instrument was a questionnaire constructed by the researchers with IOC content between 0.67 and 1.00 . The internal consistency reliability coefficients of the questionnaire: change management was 0.97 and the effectiveness of secondary schools was 0.95. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis.

               The findings of this research were as follows:

1. Overall and in specific aspects, the change management in educational schools was at a high level. These were, ranked from the highest to the lowest, were as follows: communication, collaboration, educational facilitation support, manipulation and co-optation, negotiation, and coercion.
2. Overall and in specific aspects, the school effectiveness at a high level. These were, ranked from the highest to the lowest, were as follows: curriculum, leadership, decision-making, outcome, resources and atmosphere.
3. The change management in the aspects of manipulation and co-optation (X5), communication (X1), coercion (X6), and negotiation (X4) together predicted school effectiveness at the percentage of 79 with statistical significance at 0.01. The regression equation was Y ̂_tot = 0.49 + 0.19(X5) + 0.20(X1) + 0.28(X6) + 0.21(X4)
