THE STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES, AND THREATS OF DEVELOPING SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT TO ENHANCE TRANSFORMATIVE COMPETENCIES OF STUDENTS

Abstract
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the strengths and weaknesses of the developing secondary schools academic management to enhance transformative competencies of students, 2) to study the opportunities and threats of the developing external environment that were conducive to the secondary schools academic management to enhance transformative competencies of students. The mixed method research collected data by using the questionnaire on actual state and the desirable state with 292 secondary schools’ samples by using a simple randomized method. The respondents consisted of 3 groups, school administrators, teachers and students, totaling 876 people. The data were analyzed by using averages, standard deviation and priority needs index. The research result revealed that the strengths of the developing secondary schools academic management to enhance transformative competencies of students were at the learning management (PNImodified = .256), the media, technology, innovation, and learning resources management (PNImodified = .256) and the measurement and evaluation (PNImodified = .264). The weaknesses were at the school curriculum management (PNImodified = .328). The opportunities of the developing external environment of secondary schools academic management to enhance transformative competencies of students were at the technological environment (PNImodified = .181), and the political and legal environment (PNImodified = .223). The threats were at the economic environment (PNImodified = .263), and the social environment (PNImodified = .237)
