Abstract

This research aims to study the composition and context of student leadership in order to build and evaluate the Faculty of Education’s student leadership development strategy atNakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University. The target group included students from 19 majors of the Faculty of Education, NakhonRatchasimaRajabhatUniversity, in the 2016 academic year. The research phase is divided into two phases. Phase 1: Contextual Study, to draft a strategy consisting of two steps: document analysis and investigation of students’ leadership skills. Phase 2: Strategic Development, which includes two stages: in-depth interviewing and connoisseurship. 


The research found eight components of students’ leadership skills: namely, personality, human relations and social implementation, leading and management, cleverness, work skills, communication and information technology, wittiness and intelligence, and ethics. The students’ leadership skills is shown as overall high. The three highest scores were those of communication and technology, human relations and social implementation, and wittiness and intelligence. On the other hand, the lowest score is leading and management. Accordingly, there are four strategies for developing students’ leadership skills. Strategy 1: leadership development in personality, work skills, and human relations. Strategy 2: leadership development in wittiness and intelligence. Strategy 3: leadership development in communication skills, technology and innovation. Strategy 4: leadership development in morals and ethics. Components of these strategies include goals, measures and mechanisms for action.The results of the overall strategic evaluation showed that its appropriateness, feasibility, and acceptability is at a high level. Recommendations for the implementation of the strategy should provide the approach and action plan at all levels. Students’ leadership development activities must be continued using baseline research. Students are volunteering to develop themselves. In addition, cultivating good attitude in self-development leads to application in life and work in the future.
